Armstrong laminate has a unique inner core called HydraCore. This core is made from high density fiberboard, so it provides extra strength and support to the entire floor. As a result, Armstrong laminate is suitable for areas with heavy foot traffic. Also, HydraCore adds moisture resistance to protect against mold and mildew, and it also does well to absorb sound. HydraCore definitely makes Armstrong laminate one of the strongest and most durable laminate options available today.

Additionally, Armstrong laminate has a special backing that functions as the bottom layer. Like HydraCore, this backing protects against moisture to keep the floor dry and free from mold and mildew. At the same time, the backing keeps the floor from warping. Warping is a common issue with wood floor options such as hardwood, as moisture and humidity cause the individual planks to shrink and expand. With Armstrong laminate, however, you can have the same wood looks in areas with some moisture.
